community-workCommunity Work helps in serving the needy and bringing joy to many in the community and a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction to self that we have been instrumental to make a difference in someone’s life.

One of the missions of PCER Chembur is to create socially aware and humane pre-service teachers. This is reflected in our objectives and achieved through community work programme.

It’s very essential to make the pre-service teachers realise the importance of rendering their community services to the un-reached in the society and the joy of providing that service without expecting anything in return. Community work programme thus helped us to realise the institution’s mission of creating more humane teachers as well as achieve the objective of creating awareness among the pre-service teachers about the community.

For the year 2014-15, a host of activities were done in the community work programme but the thrust was with the following NGOs and institutions:

They were taught the basic calculations in mathematics. The students were really benefitted and thus our students served the community constructively.

As a part of SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAAN in schools, the B.Ed. pre service teachers celebrated the Clean Environment and Aanganwadi Day, Personal Hygiene, Food and Nutrition and Child Care Day, Clean Drinking Water Day and Toilet / Sanitation Day. The B.Ed. pre service teachers taught about personal hygiene and child care to Marathi Madhyamik Shala students for e.g. brushing teeth after each meal, taking bath everyday, cutting nails, washing hair, washing hands with soap before eating food etc. The importance of food and nutrition was discussed.
