Action Research Workshop on 2nd December, 2016

PCER Research Cell organized Action Research Workshop on 2nd December, 2016 for the Student teachers and Teacher-Educators. Dr. Vidya Naik, Former Professor SBM and Dean Open and Distance Education NMIMS, Mumbai conducted the session. Dr. Naik discussed the process of conducting Action Research in detail. The session gave an enriching experience to the student-teachers and the students were framed problem and prepared an outline of the proposal.

Research Methodology Workshop in Social Sciences – from 8th to 14th August, 2015

Mahatma Education Society’s Pillais’ College of Education and Research, Chembur and Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce, Chembur organized an Indian Council of Social Science Research, (WRC), MUMBAI, sponsored Workshop on Research Methodology in Social Sciences from 8th to 14th August, 2015. The main objectives of the workshop were to acquaint the participants with the basics, types & process of research and give hands on experience with descriptive and Statistical data analysis and exposure to the participants to use computers in acquiring web resources for review of related literature and referencing and writing of research report.

The workshop was presided by Chief Guest Dr. A. B. Rao, HOD, Research Centre Allana Institute Of Management, Pune, Dr. Sunita Wadikar, Principal, Pillais’ College of Education and Research, Chembur and Dr. Padma Rangan, Principal, Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce, Chembur along with other dignitaries. Ms. Vani Achari and Ms. Anaya Markendya were the co-ordinators of the workshop. The sessions were interactive, with hands on experience using web resources. At the end of each day there were paper presentations by the participants. On 14th August, 2015 from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. valedictory function was held which was presided by Chief Guest Dr. Indu Garg, Head of Department, Department of Education, University of Mumbai. The key issues addressed were the high quality research and professional development of teachers. Each session was very fruitful as resource persons could meet the participant’s expectations with their expertise. Certificate of Participation and Paper Presentation were distributed at the end of the session. The workshop proved to be a great success with participants requesting to hold more such workshops in near future.

Research Methodology Workshop in Social Sciences – from 22nd to 26th July, 2013

Mahatma Education Society’s Pillais’ College of Education and Research, Chembur, organized an Indian Council of Social Science Research, (WRC), Mumbai, sponsored Workshop on Research Methodology in Social Sciences from 22nd to 26th July, 2013. The main objectives of the workshop were to acquaint the participants with the basics of Research, types of research and process, various research methodologies, web resources for Review of Related Literature, how to standardize tools, referencing and writing of research report.

The workshop was presided by Chief Guest Dr. G. G. Wankhede, Dean, School of Education, TISS, Guest of honour, Dr. Mrs. Kamal Patankar, Ex-Principal and PhD Guide, Principal, Dr. Sunita Wadikar, Pillais’ College of Education and Research, Chembur along with other dignitaries. Welcome address was given by Dr. Sunita Wadikar, Principal, Pillais’ College of Education and Research, Chembur. Asst. Professor. Vani Achari Ummadisingu, the Program Co-ordinator briefed the august gathering about the workshop. The Core committee and Organising Committee included the Faculty of Pillais’ College of Education and Research, Chembur. After felicitation ceremony, Keynote Inaugural address was given by the Chief Guest who emphasized on the present scenario of social science research and need for original quality research and motivated the participants to do good research with the help of various funding agencies. This was followed by the inaugural speech given by the guest of honour where she emphasized the need for research which contributed for societal upliftment and well-being.

The workshop was divided into ten sessions for five days which included two sessions per day, the resource persons were from Department of Education, University of Mumbai, Tata Institute of Social Sciences and KJ Somaiya Comprehensive College of Education Training and Research, Vidyavihar. Each session was very fruitful as resource persons could meet the participant’s expectations with their expertise. The sessions were interactive, with hands on experience using web resources. Paper presentations were at the end of the sessions. The workshop proved to be a great success with participants requesting to hold more such workshops in near future.
