As part of the KHAS (Knowledge, Humanistic, Application, and Skill) series, on 24th August, 2024 MES’s Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur, hosted a session on “Understanding Artificial Intelligence in Education,” by Mr. Tanmay Mangesh Tawre. The session aimed at introducing the B.Ed students to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its significant impact on various sectors, including education.

Mr. Tawre explained the concept of Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing how AI enables machines to replicate human intelligence. He highlighted the concept of Machine Learning (ML), a subset of AI that enables machines to learn from data and improve over time without explicit programming. Mr. Tawre further discussed the history and evolution of AI. Mr. Tawre elaborated on applications of AI that are transforming multiple sectors such as healthcare, Transportation, Retail, Entertainment, etc. Mr. Tawre then showcased some of the current popular AI applications, providing a hands-on demonstration of tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini by Google, PopAI, Slidesgo, Gencraft and ZeroGPT.

The session was enriching, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of AI, its evolution, and its applications. Mr. Tawre’s ability to simplify concepts and demonstrate real-world AI applications, helped students to understand the importance of AI in modern education and its potential to transform education.
