Date: 1st October to 5th October, 2024
Event Name: Nai Talim Week

MES’s Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur, celebrated Nai Talim Week from 1st to 5th October 2024 to honor Mahatma Gandhi’s life and philosophy. The event began with a special assembly on Gandhi Jayanti, where the students paid tribute to Gandhiji through prayers, speeches, and a skit highlighting his educational ideals, vocational skills, and self-reliance. Workshops, quizzes, and creative activities like fabric pouch painting were organized, fostering practical learning and sustainability in line with Gandhian principles. These events engaged B.Ed students and school children, promoting hands-on learning and environmental
consciousness.

Throughout the week, second-year B.Ed students, during their internships, conducted activities in their respective practice-teaching schools, such as skits, extempore competitions, and problem-solving tasks that reflected Gandhian values of simplicity, truth, and community service. These activities encouraged critical thinking, public speaking, and creative expression while promoting self-reliance and experiential learning.
The Nai Talim Week at MES’s Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur, was a resounding success, fostering a deeper understanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s educational principles among students and faculty. The week’s activities, ranging from creative workshops to quizzes, honored Gandhiji’s legacy and embedded his values of self-reliance, simplicity, and practical learning among students.

From these events, the B.Ed students could reflect on and apply the principles of Nai Talim in their teaching practices, ensuring Gandhiji’s vision of education as a means of holistic development.
