Pillai College of Education & Research, Chembur attended the inaugural function of Western India Science Fair 2016 on 14th December, 2016 at 11.00 a.m. in the auditorium of Nehru Science Centre. Prof.G.D. Yadav, Vice Chancellor of Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai gave the inaugural address in which he emphasized on the need to use science for social upliftment and Welfare. He motivated the students to inculcate scientific temper and develop scientific attitude in their daily life. He discussed on the possibilities of science to increase the longevity of life as well as genome that could predict our bodily malfunctions in advance.
Later our student teachers visited the various galleries where they explored hands-on and interactive science exhibits on energy, sound, kinematics, mechanics, transport, etc. installed in the science park & different galleries. They visited the WISF 2016 exhibits and interacted with the students and teachers who showcased their innovative projects and teaching aids based on Science and Mathematics. Towards the end of the visit our student teachers benefitted in a number of ways. They learnt innovative ways to communicate science to enthuse, entertain, initiate, excite and bring the developments of science & technology among their future students. How they could use science for prosperity, awareness, and improving the quality of life. Thus this would will help in spreading scientific literacy among students.
